Microsoft is working on a new version of Media Player for Windows 11. It is currently being tested by Windows Insiders on Dev Channel and supports audio and video playback. The new application will also replace the completely useless Groove Music.
The new Media Player was revealed in a blog post by Microsoft and its design fits perfectly with that of the latest version of the company’s operating system.
The application allows searching for music and videos, creating and managing playlists, displaying album art and photo covers in both full screen mode and mini player.
Microsoft says users should keep an eye out for future updates to add new ways to browse music and video collections, as well as manage the playback queue.
The company notes that Old Windows Media Player will continue to be available in Windows Tools. If someone uses Groove Music to manage their audio files, their library and playlists will be transferred to the new media player.
