Google prohibits applications from requesting lists of user's installed apps

Google regularly deals with developers and especially with the rights that their applications have. This time its target is the developers who ask for a list of the apps you have on your mobile.

XDA Developers reports that the company changed the Developer Program Policy and made it harder for applications to see other apps that are installed on your smartphone and personal information.

The permission “QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES” is activated in applications that target the API level 30 (Android 11), something that all apps will do from November 2021. So all developers to consider.

Google’s goal in blocking “QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES” is to protect users from developers who aim to sell application listings to companies that use them for advertising purposes.
