The EU wants to ensure its energy independence, the car market plummets: the Top / Flop of the week

Top: The EU in working order to ensure its energy independence

The battle plan is called RePowerEU. Through legislative proposals, new strategies and other recommendations addressed to the 27 Member States of the European Union (EU), the European Commission has detailed the way to overcome Russian imports, thanks to new investments. In total, 300 billion euros (drawn from already existing funds) should be made available, in order, in particular, to increase the climate objective for renewable energies from 40 to 45% by 2030 and that for energy efficiency from 9 to 13%.

Flop: The European car market in free fall

This is the tenth month of decline. Sales of new passenger cars in Europe collapsed again in April 2022. The drop exceeds 20% compared to the same month of 2021. The hopes of recovery at the beginning of the year were showered by the consequences of the war in Ukraine.
