OnePlus 8T vs OnePlus 7T: How improved is the new model?

A while ago, the Chinese manufacturer announced the OnePlus 8T. So it’s time to compare it to the OnePlus 7T and see if it’s worth upgrading or not.

In terms of design, the two smartphones are quite different. The OnePlus 7T has a slightly curved screen with a notch and a round module on the back – which turned out to be decorative – while the 8T has a flat screen with a punch hole and a rectangular module on the back. Also, the 8T bezels are noticeably smaller.

The OnePlus 8T has a 6.55 inch Fluid AMOLED screen with 2,400 × 1,080 pixels resolution, 20: 9 screen ratio, 402ppi density, Gorilla Glass 5 protection, and punch hole with 16MP selfie camera. On the other hand, the OnePlus 7T has a screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and a notch with a 16MP selfie camera storage space, and a 4,500mAh split battery that supports 65W Warp Charge 65 fast charge. The 7T has a Snapdragon 855+, only versions with 8GB RAM, and a 3,800mAh battery that supports 30W Warp Charge 30T fast charge. 1.7 aperture, a 16MP ultra wide with f / 2.2 aperture, a 5MP macro with f / 2.4 aperture, and a monochrome lens. The cameras can record 4K at 60fps, 1,080p at 60fps and 240fps slow-mo, 720p at 480fps, and the selfie records 1,080p at 30fps.

Last year’s model has three cameras, the main 48MP with f / 1.6 aperture, a 16MP ultra wide with f / 2.2 aperture, and a 12MP telephoto lens with f / 2.2 aperture. The cameras can record 4K at 60fps, 1,080p at 60fps and 240fps slow-mo, 720p at 960fps, and the selfie writes 1,080p at 30fps.

The OnePlus 8T has two LED flash, Laser Autofocus, HDR, in-display fingerprint scanner, USB type-C, runs OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11, and is available in two colors – Aquamarine Green and Lunar Silver. On the other hand, the OnePlus 7T has a dual LED flash, in-display fingerprint scanner, USB type-C, runs OxygenOS 10 based on Android 10, and is available in three colors – Frosted Silver, Glacier Blue, and White.

There are two versions of the OnePlus 8T, the 8GB / 128GB and the 12GB / 256GB, currently only the small one at 679 euros is available. On the other hand, the company sells the OnePlus 7T today for 529 euros on its official website.
