Chinese OnePlus has introduced a traditional autumn successor to the flag series, adding the letter “T” to the name. This year it is the only OnePlus 8T model. It cleverly combines the equipment of the original OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, so another “Pro” edition would be useless. The main attraction is the fast 65W Warp Charge, thanks to which the battery is charged to full capacity in less than 40 minutes.
The phone combines metal and glass. There is a choice of silver and light green, both with a matte back finish masking fingerprints. Water and dust resistance not stated by the manufacturer. The 6.6 “Full HD + screen with built-in fingerprint reader is AMOLED and offers a refresh rate of 120 Hz, brightness of up to 1,100 nits and HDR10 + display.
Zoom software only
The Snapdragon 865 processor takes care of performance, there is also 5G connectivity. Efficient cooling is provided by a larger steam chamber. The quadruple camera has a somewhat compromise set, which lacks a telephoto lens. Zooming in on an object is only done by software cropping the image. There is a primary 48Mpx sensor in the lens with optical and electronic stabilization, a wide-angle lens (f2.2) with a 16Mpx sensor, a lens for macro (5 Mpx) and a black and white sensor (2 Mpx). The front camera has 16 Mpx.
The battery consists of two cells, each with a capacity of 2,250 mAh, so together it offers a capacity of 4,500 mAh. Thanks to this division into two separate cells, it is possible to charge the phone wired via USB-C faster using Warp Charge 65 W technology (10V ~ 6.5A). The phone does not support wireless charging. The equipment does not lack NFC, on the contrary, the 3.5 mm jack was not used by OnePlus this time either.
OnePlus 8T will be one of the first phones to come with a new version of Android 11 directly from sale Oxygen OS 11. It contains many improvements, such as its own dark mode or sophisticated Always On display settings.
