The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will support 150W fast charge, but not the Xiaomi 12

Qualcomm will announce on November 30 its next flagship processor called Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The company seems to have decided to change the name and the “888” was a focal point for this modification.

The well-known leaker of the Chinese social network Weibo, Digital Chat Station, claims that some phones that will use the new SoC will be able to charge at 150W, however it is expected to be released later as the first batches will not be able to

Xiaomi and Motorola have devices with impressively high charging rates and a top Snapdragon chip – the Mi 10 Ultra was released in mid-2020 with 120W fast charging and the Lenovo Legion 2 Pro supports 90W via the two USB type-C. The two companies are expected to release new flagships by the end of 2021.

Digital Chat Station claims that Qualcomm will provide support for speeds up to 150W in the second batch of chips to be shipped by the end of 2021 , so it will power devices that will be released in the first quarter of 2022 – so we are not talking about the Xiaomi 12, but maybe we will see such charging in the 12 Ultra. The 150W supported by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will allow full charge in just 10 minutes.
