On the first day of the Mobile World Congress 2021 exhibition of mobile technologies, the American company Qualcomm presented its next flagship mobile processor Snapdragon 888+. The novelty is an overclocked version of the top Snapdragon 888 platform, which has already “revolutionized mobile gaming and mobile photography.”
The developers note that compared to the Snapdragon 888 processor in the updated chip there are two main innovations. This is, firstly, the frequency of the productive Cortex-X1 core increased from 2.84 GHz to 2.995 GHz. The second major advance in the Snapdragon 888+ processor is a 20% increase in the speed of the Qualcomm 6th generation artificial intelligence module. Qualcomm AI Engine performance increased from 26 trillion operations per second (TOPS) to 32 trillion operations per second.
The Snapdragon 888+ processor, like its predecessor, was created using a 5 nm process technology, supports 5G networks using a proprietary Snapdragon X60 modem, works with an Adreno GPU 660, Spectra 580 DSP and FastConnect 6900 wireless module. The updated processor supports Quick Charge 5.
The first Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ smartphones are expected to be released to the market in the second half of 2021.
