Siemens announced its withdrawal from Russia – ,

Company Siemens has announced that it will cease operations in Russia. This includes stopping production activities, stopping deliveries and refusing to develop existing and new projects.

The situation in Ukraine was cited as the reason for leaving the Russian market. After the start of a special military operation, Siemens suspended all new operations and international deliveries to Russia and Belarus. The company announced this back in March.

This was not an easy decision, given the responsibility to look after our employees and the longstanding customer relationships in a market in which we have been operating for almost 170 years. We are studying how this will affect them and will continue to support them to the best of our ability. At the same time, we provide humanitarian assistance to our colleagues and the people of Ukraine and support the international community in calling for peace.

Siemens’ departure is planned as an orderly process, the company plans to curtail its activities in accordance with regulatory requirements and international sanctions.

At the same time, the company

published the second quarter of 2022, reporting that during this period, a profit of 1.2 billion euros was made in Russia. This is half as much as in the same period last year.

Russia and Belarus account for about 1% of Siemens’ global revenue. The total staff of these units is about 3 thousand people.
