On Saturday night, Red Thread Games unveiled Dustborn during the game presentation Future Games Show. The new game will be a third-person action game for a player, where the story is in focus.
Dustborn presentation by Ragnar Trønquist.
Dustborn takes place in a post-apocalyptic USA, in the year 2030. Here you play as a folk-punk-rock band that will travel from California to Nova Scotia in secret to deliver something valuable. On the way, you must manage to get away from fanatical Puritans who are chasing you, as well as fight against the authoritarian group Justice.
Pax is the main character in the game – she is a pregnant former convicted criminal with superpowers who uses information to manipulate people. Judging from the demonstration, she can use words as a weapon in one way or another. Together with the rest of the band, she has to get through the trip, and to the Battle of the Bands competition at the very end.
In the well-known Red Thread Games style, choices you make throughout the story will have dire consequences. The style is more cartoonish than anything they have done before, with something more reminiscent of The Walking Dead games.
Dustborn will be released in 2021 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
