VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft have become the most popular version of air taxi implementation. But this technology is also quite suitable for conventional consumer drones. Hong Kong-based startup HEQ is offering its variant of the Swan Voyageur VTOL drone, available now on Kickstarter for $1,300.
Being equipped with four main engines and tail, it takes off and lands like a helicopter. Having gained the required altitude, it switches to horizontal flight mode using fixed wings – but at a higher speed than a conventional quadcopter.
For shooting, a camera is installed on the suspension, broadcasting and recording video with a resolution of 1080p at a distance of up to 8 km in 4K 30 frames / sec.
According to HEQ, a 5,500 mAh lithium polymer battery lasts for an hour at a top speed of 90 km/h. In case of success of the advertising campaign and the launch of mass production, the retail price of Swan Voyageur will increase to $1,600.
