Samsung TVs with brand new panel type may come out on market this fall. According to Korean sources the company will have prototypes of QD-OLED TVs.

Samsung talked about QD-OLED technology a year ago. These new panels are a hybrid of OLED and quantum dot technology. According to sources in the Korean edition TheElec , the first prototypes of such TVs will be released in June.

The manufacturer Samsung Display will supply prototypes of QD-OLED screens to Samsung Electronic, Sony and a number of other companies. They will be used for technical testing and assessment of prospects for commercial products. In addition to TVs, prototypes of QD-OLED monitors will be created.

If all goes according to plan, the first TVs with QD-OLED panels may appear on the market in the third quarter of 2021. Last fall Samsung Electronics was not particularly interested in QD-OLED panels, but now the company can change its attitude towards them if Samsung Display can increase production capacity.
