Nothing Phone (1) is riding the hype wave like OnePlus

Well, is that a good sign? New London-based company Nothing has announced its first-ever smartphone, the Phone (1) . Before it goes into regular sales, 1,000 units will be auctioned off for promotional purposes. Such an unusual action was to be expected given the history.

Nothing was started namely by the former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei. Although the manufacturer is now unfortunately heavily criticized and according to many “crashed”, it was one of the hottest smartphone manufacturers in the early days.

Is hype really everything?

This was not least due to the innovative invitation system . Only selected customers had the opportunity to order a smartphone at all. If they had additional invitations left, they were happy to distribute them on social media, which in turn naturally provided free attention.

Of course, Carl Pei brought this flair for unconventional advertising measures with him to Nothing. Although not even the complete technical data are known, those who are interested can place their bids for one of the first 100 devices.

Already more than 2,500 euros offered for smartphone – although no specs are known

That the Technology plays a subordinate role in the Nothing Phone (1), as shown by the prices offered. The highest bid at the time of this article is a whopping 2,558 euros, and the 100 highest bidders will receive their smartphones within 35 days by June 23, 3 p.m.

In view of the presumably installed mid-range chip Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, it should most likely cost less than a quarter. In fact, the design of the back, which consists of a transparent cover and LED lighting, is unmistakable.

What do you think of the Nothing -Strategy? Is the smartphone under a lucky star?
